The Danish Growth Council is appointed by the Minister for Economic and Business Affairs and advises the government on the growth policy and changes for Denmark in the global economy. The Danish Growth Council has as a special task to promote coordination between the national growth strategy and the regional business development strategies set by the regional growth foras to contributing to an effective and continuous process enhancing growth and business development in all parts of Denmark. The Danish Growth Council contributes with new knowledge and new ideas which have strategic influence on both national and regional growth policy and the Council focuses on approximately 1-2 themes a year. The Council ensures a global focus by learning from international experiences and international best practice. In this context, the Council occasionally invites international experts to make proposals for the Council’s discussions. The Danish Growth Council comprises 1 chairman and 19 additional members appointed by the Minister for Economic and Business Affairs. The chairman and members are appointed for up to four years at a time. The members of the Council represent private firms, knowledge institutions, local authorities, the six regional growth forums, labor unions and the employers´ organizations.
